Bring California Home Coalition Sees Rapid Growth Ahead of Key Committee Vote, Surpassing 280 Supporters
California Calls, AARP, and ACLU of Northern California, Southern California, San Diego and Imperial Counties Join Coalition
Bring California Home released the following statement as marquee supporters joined the coalition in the days leading up to a must-win committee vote for Assembly Bill 71 on Monday, April 19:
“We are enormously proud to welcome five different ACLU chapters from across California, the AARP, and California Calls, to the Bring California Home Coalition. These organizations are on the forefront of advancing equity for communities across California, and we’re honored that our proposal to reverse the cycle of homelessness is a piece of their work this year.
Additionally, these new endorsements come at a crucial time. Our coalition has incredible momentum leading into AB 71’s first committee vote on April 19 in the Assembly Revenue and Taxation Committee. California Calls, AARP, and ACLU of Northern California, Southern California, San Diego and Imperial Counties join the over 280 organizations who have thrown their support behind AB 71 and are ready to stand with us in support of revolutionizing how California combats homelessness.”
The Bring California Home Coalition is a historic coalition of elected officials, organizations, and advocates from across California. It includes Mayors Eric Garcetti, Libby Schaaf, and Darrell Steinberg, the City and County of Los Angeles, the City of Oakland, Housing California, the Corporation for Supportive Housing, Non-Profit Housing of Northern California, Brilliant Corners, the Steinberg Institute, and over 280 others.
